This session emphasizes the significant refinement and reorganizing of the complication codes within ICD-10. Options for accurate code assignment. Agenda items would include: Giving direction when coding: "Misadventures" due to a surgical procedure; Infections and other complications occurring after an event; conditions as they occur after a procedure/event; complications due to devices; When to report complication codes within the disease-specific chapter and when to report T codes; Direct when a query is needed for causal relationship.
